Location of knife marks, blood splatter and the bloody fingerprint on the living room walls. Evidence items & numbers taken from Don Stoy's Evidence & Photographic Report. (A work in progress)
Crime scene photos, before and after processing, showing evidence #'s 60, 61, 66, and 106 - 109.
The east wall is the wall with the front door. Item #66 is the bloody partial fingerprint. Doug Thomas & Steve Wright can be seen examining the print in this first photo. The inside doorknob also had blood on it, item #3. However, the blood typing results performed in 1981 came back inconclusive for ABO.
Evidence item #3 front door knob with blood, inconclusive for ABO blood typing in 1981:
The north wall had the gossip bench and telephone against it. This wall separated the boys room from the living room. The living room phone was found off the hook and the telephone wire was coiled up in a neat pile near the entryway to the kitchen. It has been speculated the phone line was cut, however, this is not confirmed in any of the available reports.
The majority of the knife marks were located on the north wall, in the alcove section behind the front door. Note the light fixture was also taken into evidence, although it is not listed in Stoy's evidence report Josh published years ago. Several items are not listed on that report, suggesting they were collected later and those reports have never been released. The next two photos show these items before and after processing. Four smaller sections were removed from the north wall behind the front door.
#106 knife marks x 4 #107 knife mark x 1 #108 knife mark x 1 #109 knife mark x 1
A rough estimate shows these sections were about 59-74" from the floor. A height that could correlate with someone being forced to stand in that location while the knife was stabbed into the sections of wall surrounding their head. Dana? In other photos, a small pool of blood is found at the northwest corner. The blood pools become larger leading up to the location of Johnny's body, as if Johnny was backed into that corner and the fatal throat wound inflicted (item #'s 6, 7, 4 8, 9 - #8 was positive for type O blood (Johnny) and #'s 6, 7, 4, 9 gave reaction to type O)
You can also see the section of the east wall containing the bloody fingerprint (#66) had already been removed.
Below photo of the north wall shows the following evidence items: #55 Blood Splatter #56 Blood Splatter #57 Blood Splatter with hair (identified as B type blood) #60 Blood Splatter & knife marks #61 Blood Splatter & knife marks
