Did Justin Witness the Homicides? | Sunday Morning: Justin, Paula, Jamie
A few weeks ago snoho made this post [ADD LINK]. She decided to revisit Justin's statements, how they changed or evolved over time and compare each to the evidence/case files. She was hoping to basically make sense of the Justin aspect. Determine where the truth lies, what he actually knew and how/when he learned those things. Attempt to separate the truths from the non-truths.
That led to this thought she posted on Facebook:
Link.
I had never considered the possibility of Justin (& Paula) standing at the front door & looking inside 28 or possibly going inside the living room themselves. After she brought it up, it seemed everything I thought of could fit this scenario. For me, none of the previous Justin scenarios ever fit well. Reconsidering his statements with this thought in mind, Justin made more sense than ever before. I know there's still a lot to consider & put to the test, and that's what we'll do.
Once we got a chance to discuss this possibility, it led from one thing to the next and the next. Many different aspects of the case ended up tied in and each piece kept fitting. Sunday morning, the Seabolts, the boys, Justin's statements, the statements of others on scene that morning, 28, the living room, crime scene, evidence, Tina being missing, the blanket & Jamie, etc.
This post is just a start, some of the items discussed, as we all continue to look into & discuss this and alternative possibilities. There's several posts & planned posts related to this and other aspects within, including this recent post of akats - [ADD LINK]
The first thing that popped in my head after reading sno's Facebook post was Zonita - Zonita and that special trip she and Jamie made to PCSO. Jamie wanted to make it clear he did not go inside 28 and Zonita wanted to inform them that she had not been outside the entire time. She told them she had gone inside to change out of her robe and get dressed. This was 2+ weeks after the homicides, on 4/29/81, and always seemed such a bizarre thing for her to feel the need to do/say. There was definitely a specific reason she told this to PCSO. Did something happen while she was inside or at cabin 25? It's like she was preemptively letting them know that she wasn't outside when it occurred, just in case PCSO found out about it.
It used to seem plausible her statement was related to their desire to hide the fact Jamie went inside. However, this seems to be about something else. Jamie had already recanted going inside 28 to PCSO, on 4/20. So had Zonita, apparently she was the first to change the story to PCSO.
According to the available Seabolt interviews:
4-?-81 - Zonita (official report not released)
Mr. Seabolt was gone, over at Mrs. Otis' place, an elderly neighbor he regularly has coffee with in the morning. Sheila came back screaming "Come quick! There are three bodies over there. Blood all over. There's a knife." Z went to 25, reported find to Jan & Les. Upon returning, she noted Jamie, Sheila and Alysia between 28 and 27, and Jamie looked like he was heading to the back of the house, so she told him NO. She had Jamie climb up on the front BR window sill and wake the boys, and they helped them climb out. Jamie then climbed the fence, opened the rear bedroom window, and looked in. He said he saw neither Tina nor Sue.

(I thought Mr. Seabolt was out woodcutting?!)
4-20-81 - Jamie
Interviewed by DOJ Bradley. K28: "On 4/20, Jamie supposedly told these corrupt assholes essentially the same story as Zonita, including opening both windows. He did see the closet light on in the girls bedroom."
"He started to wait for Doug and Les (resort owners) to arrive, however, he climbed on the sill of the front window sill and assisted the three kids out through the window.
Then proceeded to the rear bedroom area, climbed a fence, opened the window, looked inside but couldn't see anyone inside. Observed the closet light on in the rear bedroom.
When Doug and Les arrived Jamie stuck his head inside the front door and saw two bodies on the floor. Didn't see a knife. There was something bent lying on the floor next to the body closest to the door.
After looking through the front door, walked around to the rear of the rear of the Sharps house, walked up the rear stairs and stood on the landing. The back porch door was standing ope. Did not enter the rear portion of the house.

4-28-81 - Paula
Stoy asked Paula if she went inside 28 after Sheila told them what happened (why did he ask her this?). She denied going inside but said she saw into the living room through the open front door while standing at the fence between cabins 27 and 28. She saw the TV upside down and two bodies. Stoy asked her if she saw anyone go inside the house before LE arrived. She told him she saw Les go inside twice.

4-28-81 - Jamie
After speaking with Paula, Stoy spoke with Jamie. He wanted to ask Jamie about going inside because Jamie had recently denied it to DOJ Bradley. Jamie again denied going into 28. He told Stoy that he, Les, and Doug had looked into the living room from the front door but no one went inside. He said he saw two bodies and then left.

Jamie and Zonita return to PCSO, Jamie specifically asserts he never entered cabin 28. Zonita informs them she had not been outside the entire time Sunday morning. She had been dressed in her robe that & went inside to change.

So, had Zonita found out that Jamie did more than look around for Tina while inside? Did she learn Sue had been covered with a blanket? That Jamie had covered Sue? Was it decided Jamie had better deny going inside from them on, was he instructed to recant and did so on 4/20?
Was Zonitas own statement on 4/29 related to Jamie going inside? I can't help wondering if its more than that. If she was only worried about Jamie going inside, why even bother telling pcso she wasn't outside the whole time? She could have told PCSO that Jamie absolutely did not go inside, that she was 100% sure because she was outside with him the entire time. Her statement weakened his statement rather than strengthening it.
Is it possible she learned something else or something happened between 4/20 - 4/29 which caused her to inform LE she wasn't outside the entire time? Could it have been because of the kids, was she aware they had gone inside?
It's interesting Stoy spoke with Paula (& Jamie) just the day before Zonita & Jamie's trip to PCSO. Why did he ask Paula if she went inside 28? Had he heard something?
"I asked Paula if she went into the Sharp home after Sheila told them what happened Sunday morning and she said she didn't but looked inside from the fence between her house and Sue's through the open front door."
Was it this interview that caused Zonita's statement? Did she feel PCSO had learned or were close to uncovering one of the secrets they were trying to keep? Had she known that morning when she came back outside? Did she instruct Paula to say she saw from the fenceline? What about Justin? He told PCSO the same exact thing. Were they worried they would get in trouble (*if they did go inside or even looked in through the front door)?
The scene that morning had to have been chaos. Scared, confused and curious kids there watching listening as it all unfolded. Justin would have immediately learned Tina was missing because the girls room was checked immediately after the boys. Her not being there would have been a big deal to everyone. We need to revisit all Sunday morning statements. After briefly looking, Zonita may not have been there when the boys were removed & it was realized Tina was missing beforehand. So did Jamie go inside after removing the boys? If Zonita was still at 25 or inside her own cabin, Sheila went to call Uncle Don, then Justin & Paula (+ Rick & Greg?) would have been unattended. Jamie goes in the back, the kids sneak up front? It seems completely plausible in my opinion.
Justin's more accurate statements to LE re: Sue bleeding from her chest & seeing a knife sticking out of the wall near the TV that night. Were these things he learned from Jamie? Did Jamie mention Sue's wounds and finding stab marks in the walls? Or did see the crime scene before Sue was covered with the blanket, likely by Jamie?
