I'm wondering when Chuck/Carey Walke first found out about the murders. We have several references to a supposed party happening at their house. Chuck and Henry T. have stories that just don't quite line up for the night of the 11th. Then we have that group of kids in a car acting suspiciously, racing around lower Keddie as if they didn't know the way out. The reporter said he believed they'd come from the direction of the Walker house. This was happening right around the time the bodies were discovered. (note to self, compare description to others). When Richard found out about the murders, he was said to be heading up the tracks towards the Walke house. I wonder if he thought the boys had gone there the previous night? Did the officer catch him heading up, or coming back? Was there ever a request made to search his house? With the questioning, polygraph, and statements made by others, I would assume so...

That is a good question snoho. I wish we knew the answer. Unrelated to your question, I had started writing up issues pertaining to Shaver & Brubaker's files. A bunch of dumb luck is what it seems to boil down to. Brubaker & Shaver made multiple mistakes, unfortunately. The biggest currently being what happened when they checked the tracks and Walke property !??!
I'm so conflicted. Part of me is annoyed with Brubaker. He had this thing he did, where if he was with another officer he only told half the story. That's half ass. Sorry, but it is. Both officers should have written a full report. Instead it seems more like he went by the rules of "you discuss this and I'll discuss that". It hurt the case. But, if it wasn't for him, we wouldn't even know they checked the tracks or walkes because Shaver included zip zero. And that's not the only thing Shaver didn't include anything about. According to Brubakers report, Sgt Shaver should have included Mike Hamilton's interview and what they unearthed on the walk of the tracks/walkes property. Shavers report didn't include this info so we have no idea. And it appears this ijfo may be crucial. What ashame.
