In 2016 an announcement was made that xxx bartender and Kathy Beckley had admitted to Gamberg they were the ones who rode Johnny & Dana home that Saturday night. This had been one of the biggest mysteries in the case. In every newspaper article this was brought up and PCSO were requesting the public to come forward with any information about the boys whereabouts and ride home that evening.
Over the years several people claimed to be the one who drove the boys home that night. In addition to the below statements, a former poster on the old forums, Craig W. adamantly claimed he drove them home. Also, around 2010 PCSO had claimed they knew who rode the boys home.

Most of us remember a user on another board insisting that he drove Johnny and Dana to Keddie on the night of the murders. Whether he did not not remains unclear, but we do know that he never went to the police with his story. Two others did, however, with their own version of events that night. Here they are, for the first time:
The date of the first report is 5-5-81. At the top reads "Memorandum, County of Plumas."
Ken--
As I advised you when I called you, Donna W. was extremely paranoid and was saying that "they" got Dana and would get her. I was unable to learn any more at the hospital. I was relieved by Wayne W. and I advised him of what I had heard. Later I got a call to the Dorris Foster Home and Pat D. told me the following.
Pat was called by Donna earlier in the evening. At that time Pat took Donna to the foster home. Donna was drunk but not paranoid as when I saw her. Donna told Pat the following. She said that she was the one who gave Dana and John a ride to Keddie. She picked them up about 10:30 pm in front of Exxon. She saw Mrs. Sharp when she got there and said she was dressed like she was ready to go out. She also said she knew who else was at the house. There was also some mention of Steve D. but Pat could not remember what.
[the report briefly mentions Donna's then living arrangement and ends there]
The date of the second report is 5-9-81:
I was contacted by Sheriff Thomas and asked to contact C.S. who lives on Rush Creek in the canyon. C.S. had told the sheriff that he had information which could be important. I contacted C.S. who told me that he did not want his name to get back to the person who had been talking to him. C.S. was hesitant but finally gave the name P.T. as his informant. P.T. lives somewhere around Crescent Mills.
C.S. said that P.T. had learned from his daughter Kathy that a 17-year-old boy had picked up Johnny and Dana, unknown where, and took them to Keddie the night they were murdered. Very sketchy info is that the 17-year-old, only known by the last name of Joy or Joey, had either seen a fight between Johnny and Dana and two Indian males from the Greenville area or had been told about it. The Indian guys had supposedly said if they did not get what they wanted, they would kill Johnny and his family.
[the report concludes with a brief mention of Joy or Joey's living arrangement]
