Over the past couple of years there have been some mentions of DNA hits.
The first is the "DNA matched to a living suspect". This living "suspect" was a 12 year old boy at the time. The match belongs to Justin. His DNA was identified on a piece of tape located on the floor near Sue.
This discovery has led to claims of forced participation. Does Justin's DNA on a piece of tape equal proof of such a claim? No. Is it a possibility? I suppose, but that's only because anything can be considered a possibility.
Justin's statements to LE changed multiple times and who knows what the truth is. In his statements, back in 1981, he did say that he had tried to "take care of Sue". He said he placed a rag on her chest where she was bleeding. In an old post, Josh said it was an "undisputed fact" Justin was the one who covered Sue with the blanket. Although, I don't know where this information came from or it's validity. It's been known to LE since the beginning that Justin was likely in that living room at some point.
It's not impossible to believe his DNA could have gotten on the tape via some other means than participating in murder. He could have picked it up off the floor or removed a piece. Not to mention, the entire forced participation to buy the boys silence is quite a stretch of the imagination. No murderer would take that chance. Marty was nobody to Rick & Greg, he could not have counted on them not talking.
The discovery of Justin's DNA was a significant find, an opportunity for investigators to once again try to get through to him. How many times was Justin interviewed following this discovery? Once? That's the way it appears, Justin was interviewed one time, advised of the match, and that was it. The next thing to happen was Gamberg in Victoria Metcalf's article for Plumas News stating they had identified a DNA match to living suspect. And prior to the public announcement, the supposed match had been leaked to Dmac & for an entire year multiple posts had been made to his forum & FB about it. Deceptive posts, claiming Justin's DNA had been found on a "weapon" in the "kill zone". None of that seems right. Rather a poor way to conduct an investigation & a poor way to make use of the information.
Also, it's worth noting the actual DNA report has never been released.
